New publication “Systematic review on the cost-effectiveness of home-based palliative care interventions in patients with cancer”

Betthera team successfully published systematic review, where was found out that home-based palliative care consistently reduces total costs, particularly when factoring in both direct (medical and non-medical) and indirect costs—such as productivity losses and family-related expenses.

The review revealed that informal care and productivity losses represent a substantial share of overall expenses, with significant variations across regions. While cost reductions through home care are clear, estimating its impact on quality of life remains challenging due to the heterogeneity of available studies.

These findings highlight the importance of a more comprehensive cost analysis in palliative care research, integrating both direct and indirect costs for a better understanding of its true economic impact.
